ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Please join AELA for a special online workshop, offering the opportunity to explore Deep Ecology. The workshop will enable you to engage with the theory and practice of Deep Ecology, and explore how it can inform and assist your personal and professional life. The workshop features AELA Associate, Karina Miotto, as your deep ecology educator, and is hosted by Dr Michelle Maloney, Co-Founder and National Convenor of AELA.

ABOUT DEEP ECOLOGY

Deep Ecology is an environmental philosophy that transcends mere conservation efforts; it calls for a fundamental shift in how we perceive and relate to the natural world. At its core, Deep Ecology emphasises the intrinsic value of all life forms and underscores the intricate interconnection of all living beings within the web of existence. This philosophy encourages individuals to explore their place in the broader ecological context, fostering a heightened self-awareness that extends to our relationships with others and with nature. It prompts us to reflect deeply on our life purpose and our role as stewards of the planet.

By embracing Deep Ecology principles, we can forge a more empathetic and sustainable path forward in our careers and in our personal lives. Deep Ecology challenges us to consider the broader implications of our actions, encouraging a shift towards more ecocentric decision-making. This philosophy instills a sense of responsibility for the well-being of the planet and all its inhabitants, guiding us towards more ethical and environmentally conscious professional practices. Ultimately, Deep Ecology invites us to reevaluate our relationship with nature, others, and ourselves, paving the way for a more harmonious and sustainable coexistence with the Earth.
