Wild Law 2010 – ‘Keeping the Fire’, University of Wollongong, October

The second Australian conference on Wild Law and Earth Jurisprudence was organised in 2010 as a dialogue between the Sandon Point Aboriginal Tent Embassy and the University of Wollongong.  Its primary question was whether it is possible to develop a new environmental awareness by comparing different cultural and legal models, some of which have been structured around sustainable practices and frameworks of steady-state economies for thousands of years.  In acknowledging that Indigenous legal cultures have already been operating according to the principles advocated by Wild Law, a number of Indigenous elders and activists were invited to lead the dialogue.
